FAQ & Care Guide
A little care keeps your Formi pieces looking their best. Find answers about our coasters, trays, and clickers below.
About your Formi piece
What are your products made from?
Materials and finishes vary by product. Our clickers are 3D printed in PLA plastic, while some pieces have a coating or use another material. Check the individual product listing for the material, finish, and any specific care instructions. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.
Why can I see small lines or surface variations?
3D printing builds each piece one layer at a time, so fine layer lines and small surface variations can be visible. Matte trays may show layer lines, while a hand-applied glossy finish may have small air bubbles. Check the product listing for the finish details of your piece.
How do I check the size and what's included?
Each product listing describes its size, available options, and included pieces or accessories. Coaster sets and holders vary by design, so check the listing for the set you are purchasing.
Everyday care
Can I leave my pieces in the sun or a hot car?
Keep PLA pieces away from high heat, hot cars, heaters, and prolonged direct sunlight. Heat can cause PLA to soften or warp. For pieces made from other materials or with a coating, follow the product's specific care instructions; a glossy finish should not be treated as a guarantee of heat resistance.
How should I clean my pieces?
Use a soft, dry cloth for light dust. For coasters and trays, gently wipe spills with a soft cloth and dry promptly. Avoid soaking, dishwashers, hot water, abrasive scrubbing, and harsh cleaning products unless the product listing specifically states otherwise. Keep debris and liquid out of clicker mechanisms.
Coasters & trays
Can I use my coasters for hot pans or cookware?
Our coasters are for drinkware, not hot cookware. Do not use them as trivets for hot pans, pots, kettles, or dishes straight from the oven. For hot drinkware, follow the care guidance for your coaster's material and finish. If the listing does not specify heat suitability, ask us before using it with very hot drinkware.
What are your trays intended for?
Our decorative trays are a place for everyday essentials such as jewelry, rings, eyeglasses, and other small items. Check the listing for your tray's dimensions and intended use. Do not place unwrapped food directly on a decorative tray unless that product is specifically identified as suitable for direct food contact.
Does a glossy finish make a piece waterproof or dishwasher safe?
A glossy finish describes the appearance of the piece. It does not automatically mean the item is waterproof, dishwasher safe, heat resistant, or suitable for direct food contact. Follow the care instructions for the specific product and avoid prolonged soaking.
Is every coaster holder also a storage pot?
No. Holder designs have different functions. For example, the kalo coaster holder is decorative, while the anthurium set includes a pot with a hidden storage compartment. Check your set's listing before using the holder for storage.
Clickers
How should I use my clicker?
Hold the base and press the moving top gently. Avoid pulling, twisting, or prying at the top, and do not lift or carry the clicker by the moving piece. Our miniature food designs are decorative fidgets and are not edible.
Why isn't the moving top glued down?
The moving top is intentionally left unglued so it can move freely and deliver the click you love. A strong snag or pull can cause the top to detach or damage the connection.
Can I attach my clicker to a bag?
If your clicker has a keyring or attachment, choose a spot where it will not catch on straps, clothing, furniture, or other objects. Watch where it rests when you set your bag down, and keep it from being trapped underneath your bag or pressed against heavy items.
What if the top detaches or stops clicking?
Stop using the clicker and contact us with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos. Avoid forcing the top back into place or adding glue, which can interfere with the mechanism. We'll review the issue and help with the next steps.
